The Ilisian: A New Multifaceted Destination Emerges in the Heart of Athens

Athens is preparing to welcome a new landmark as the historic building that housed Hilton Athens for more than half a century transforms into a pioneering, multifaceted destination named The Ilisian.

Ionian Hotel Enterprises, the company behind this ambitious project, unveiled its plans at an event on June 20, 2024, attended by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The Ilisian aspires to become a comprehensive ecosystem of experiences, combining luxury accommodation, gastronomy, entertainment, wellness, and shopping.

Key features of The Ilisian include:

  • **Conrad Athens**, the first hotel of the chain in Greece, with 278 rooms and suites.
  • 18 private residences under the Conrad Residences brand.
  • 37 residences under the Waldorf Astoria Residences brand, ushering in a new era of luxury living in the Greek capital.

Achilleas V. Constantakopoulos, Chairman of TEMES S.A., stated: “With great respect for the unique history of this iconic building, we feel the responsibility of its rebirth, ensuring it continues to be a beloved destination, creating lifelong memories.”

The investment, expected to exceed €340 million, is projected to have significant economic and social impacts. According to a study by the University of Piraeus, The Ilisian’s total effect during its first five years of operation is estimated to surpass €1.25 billion. Furthermore, the project is expected to create up to 800 new jobs.

The design of The Ilisian emphasizes sustainable development, aiming for LEED Gold certification, while preserving and highlighting iconic elements of the building, including facades crafted by renowned Greek artist Yiannis Moralis.

The Ilisian is set to open next year, aiming to become a reference point for Athenians and visitors alike, combining cosmopolitan flair with an authentic, contemporary Athenian experience.

Athens welcomes a groundbreaking new hotel that promises to rejuvenate the historic Omonia area. Vision Omonia, the first hotel of the VISION Greece chain, officially opened its doors on June 18, 2024, marking a new era for urban tourism in the Greek capital.

Located just steps from the Omonia metro station, the hotel combines neoclassical design with a strong artistic identity. It features 42 elegantly designed rooms and suites, ranging from 26 to 60 square meters, offering guests spectacular views of the Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill.

One of Vision Omonia’s most impressive features is its rooftop with an infinity pool, providing panoramic views of Athens’ landmarks. The hotel also includes a gym, two meeting rooms, and the innovative Finder’s Real Estate Hub.

The commitment to art is evident throughout the property. The “7×7 Gallery,” curated by Mr. Kriton, transforms the hotel into a living gallery. Each of the seven floors is dedicated to a different artist, and every room houses a unique piece of art available for purchase.

Vision Omonia also introduces innovations in technology, with the VISION APP allowing guests to manage every aspect of their stay through their smartphones. Starting September 2024, Vision Omonia will host BENEDICTS, a new gastronomic concept debuting in Greece.
